Over the years, air bags have become a standard for saving lives. For most, an air bag deployment can be uncomfortable but for some it can be deadly. Air bag safety is strongly suggested for pregnant women and children.
- Children 12 and under should always sit in the backseat with their seatbelt buckled properly.
- Infants should also be placed in the backseat with a rear-facing child safety seat. Never put a rear-facing child seat in the front seat.
- Forward-facing child safety seats are for children weighing 30 to 40 lb and between the height 50 of 57 in. Forward-facing child seats are placed in the backseat.
- Booster seats are for child who do not fit in safety seats. A booster seat should be used in the backseat along with a properly fitted seatbelt.
- Pregnant women are advised that air bags are safe during most of their pregnancy. Air bags should not be disabled and pregnant women should sit as far away as possible. During the last stages, women should not be driving and should sit in the backseat to be safe.
YOU can help to prevent the theft of your vehicle by taking a few simple precautions!!
- When leaving your vehicle, regardless of the length of time, remove the key from the ignition, close all windows and lock the doors.
- Install smooth non-flared locking buttons on your car doors. This will help prevent someone from opening the door with a coat hanger.
- At night, park your vehicle in a well lit area.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended with luggage on the roof rack...this also applies to ski and bike racks.
- Never leave your drivers license, vehicle registration, insurance cards or credit cards in your vehicle. Your identification, once stolen, can be used to commit crimes involving credit card fraud and forgery.
- DO NOT have an identification tag with your name, address or vehicle license number on your key chain.
- NEVER leave your house keys on your key ring when using a valet car service. You should only give the valet car parker your valet key (if vehicle is so equipped).
- Never leave articles in your vehicle in plain view. Lock them in your trunk.
