That is,
an Automotive Oil Change Association?
They are a nonprofit organization that has been around since
1987 "dedicated to enhancing the competency of fast
lube owners, educating the public about services members
offer and maintaining a favorable business environment." In
other words they actually care how you and those around you
maintain your car.
This what they suggest - If you drive in "severe driving
conditions" you need to change your oil every 3000 miles.
What constitutes severe?
- Multiple short trips
- Stop and go driving
- Cold weather
- Hot weather
- Tow trailers
- Heavy loads
I would guess the majority of us probably drive "severely" most
of the time.
These are the checks and services an AOCA member will complete
for you:
- Drain and replace motor oil
- Install new oil filter
- Lubricate the chassis
- Check the air filter
- Check the PCV valve
- Check breather element
- Check brake fluid
-
Check transmission & transaxle fluid
- Check differential fluid
- Check transfer case fluid
- Check and fill windshield washer fluid
- Inflate tires to proper air pressure
- In-cabin air filter
