That is, an Automotive Oil Change Association?

They are a nonprofit organization that has been around since 1987 "dedicated to enhancing the competency of fast lube owners, educating the public about services members offer and maintaining a favorable business environment." In other words they actually care how you and those around you maintain your car.

This what they suggest - If you drive in "severe driving conditions" you need to change your oil every 3000 miles.

What constitutes severe?

  • Multiple short trips
  • Stop and go driving
  • Cold weather
  • Hot weather
  • Tow trailers
  • Heavy loads

I would guess the majority of us probably drive "severely" most of the time.
These are the checks and services an AOCA member will complete for you:

  • Drain and replace motor oil
  • Install new oil filter
  • Lubricate the chassis
  • Check the air filter
  • Check the PCV valve
  • Check breather element
  • Check brake fluid
  • Check transmission & transaxle fluid
  • Check differential fluid
  • Check transfer case fluid
  • Check and fill windshield washer fluid
  • Inflate tires to proper air pressure
  • In-cabin air filter

If you want to know more about this admirable organization you can check them out at AOCA.org.
