INATTENTION
A lot Can Happen in a Couple Seconds!
Too many drivers ignore a basic defensive driving fundamental of “two hands on the wheel.” Here are a few examples of what results:
- Reaching for cough drops…………….a head on
- Using the cell phone…………………..a rear end collision
- Shuffling papers……………………….into a ditch
- Reaching for a cigarette lighter………..rear end collision
- Dropped lighted cigarette on seat……..right angle collision
- Thumbing through street directory…….rear end collision
And, you can probably add to the list with situations you have heard about.
DRIVING IS A FULL TIME JOB
Just as you should keep two hands on the wheel, also have our mind on driving at all times – every second. Defensive driving – safe driving, requires constant attention and complete concentration. Here are a few examples of accidents caused by split second inattention.
